Upcoming game Shattered Horizon™ joins “NVIDIA®: The Way It’s Meant To Be Played™” program

Futuremark Games Studio showcases Shattered Horizon as a NVIDIA: TWIMTBP title at NVISION08

NVISION08, SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA –AUGUST 25TH, 2008 – Futuremark® Games Studio is proud to announce that its first game Shattered Horizon™ will carry the “NVIDIA®: The Way It’s Meant To Be Played™”(TWIMTBP) seal, joining the hundreds of successful titles that are optimized for play on PCs powered by NVIDIA graphics hardware. Shattered Horizon is a new game where players fight to survive in the aftermath of a catastrophic Moon mining accident that throws billions of tons of rocky debris into near-Earth space. In this multiplayer first-person shooter, teams of players experience realistic zero gravity combat surrounded by the broken remains of orbital infrastructure and the millions of asteroids now encircling the Earth.

“With Shattered Horizon’s real space setting we’re aiming to deliver gameplay, tactics and freedom of movement that cannot be found in any other shooter,” said Jukka Mäkinen, Head of Futuremark Games Studio. “Joining the NVIDIA: TWIMTBP program helps us meet that aim. With the support of NVIDIA’s multi-talented engineers we will reward players with a game strikingly different to any they’ve played before.”

“NVIDIA is proud to showcase Shattered Horizon from Futuremark Games Studio as a TWIMTBP title,” said Roy Taylor, Vice President of Content Development at NVIDIA. “Futuremark has a proven record of creating mind-blowing visual scenes. With Shattered Horizon they are doing it again, working with our top gaming development engineers to implement our most advanced graphics and PhysX™ technology.”

Antti Summala, Lead Designer for Shattered Horizon, explained, “NVIDIA’s expertise helps us create the stunning lighting effects and zero gravity physics that give Shattered Horizon the look and feel of real space, bringing to life an extraordinary and epic vision of the future.”

The company says that working with NVIDIA’s engineers helps them deliver impressive performance on a wide range of systems, ensuring that gamers need not spend a fortune to enjoy the unique gameplay.
